The well being of your family is every important, therefore each family member's health and fitness is of a vital importance. That is probably why a lot of individuals are reading about family health and fitness whenever they have the chance.

They read books, magazines, emails, newspapers, e books, and even articles covering health and fitness. Almost all of the reading materials about fitness and health can be very confusing, too serious, too in depth, too long, or too complicated.

- Always eat a healthy diet. You might be aware by now of what a healthy diet is; and as parents, you should set an example to your children by eating healthy foods. If your children often see you doing just that, they will eventually follow your eating habits. You don't have to be technical about your food preparation. With a little information about the different food groups and a little creativity in your cooking, you can give your family a healthy meal everyday.

- From breakfast to dinner, make sure that you eat foods rich in protein like red meat, turkey, chicken, eggs, cottage cheese, and fish. Proteins are important for your body because this maintains your muscle mass. Muscle mass is an essential key to excellent health and/or fitness.

- Fats can be very harmful to your body, but if you only eat the good fats in every meal, you're on your way to a healthy and fit body. Make sure that stay away from saturated fats because it can do more harm to your body then you might expect.

- You know the importance of getting a daily exercise. It would be best to have your own family exercise plan, encourage your children to join so that they will know the significance of exercising every day. You can start your exercise plan of about two hours for a period of five days. Try a lot of exercises and just make sure that you do it the proper way. Teach your children simple exercises that they can do on their own while you try other strenuous exercises.

- Talk to your family, especially to the children. Tell them of your good intentions, and that you're bound to carry such fitness and health goals. Once your family sees that you're determined and serious, they will eventually support you.

The secret is to get all your family members involved in your quest for health and fitness. This is an activity that can only be realized if all of you worked together. Forget about the articles, books, etc. your search for health and fitness information is over. Act now and soon you can see that your family is already living a healthy and fit life. Kenniscentrum past richtlijn voor behandeling borstkanker aan
Een behandeling met hormoontherapie is minder zwaar dan chemo –en radiotherapie, maar is enkel bij bepaalde types borstkanker, die hormoongevoelig zijn, doeltreffend. Sinds kort kunnen nieuwe diagnosetechnieken de tumoren die met hormonentherapie kunnen worden behandeld, nauwkeuriger herkennen. Daardoor kan een groter aantal vrouwen ermee worden behandeld. Het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor de Gezondheidszorg (KCE) paste zijn richtlijnen voor de behandeling van borstkanker in die zin aan.
Chronische pijn kost 11,6 miljard euro per jaar
Een kwart van de Belgen kampt met aanhoudende pijn en bij een op de tien baten de klassieke pijnstillers zelfs niet meer. De totale kosten van chronische pijn bedroegen in 2010 voor België alleen al 11,6 miljard euro.
Onderzoek naar menopauze gaat vooruit
In de toekomst kan de menopauze mogelijk worden gestuurd, waardoor het voor vrouwen die bijvoorbeeld vroegtijdig onvruchtbaar zijn toch mogelijk zou worden om kinderen te krijgen. Een groep onderzoekers onder leiding van het Erasmus Medisch Centrum heeft een deel van het geheim achter de vruchtbare periode van vrouwen ontrafeld.
Gezondheidsdoelstellingen: bmi van gemiddelde volwassen Vlaming stijgt boven 25
De Vlaming heeft steeds vaker overgewicht. De gemiddelde bmi (body mass index) voor volwassenen in Vlaanderen staat op 25,3, terwijl de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie vanaf 25 spreekt van overgewicht. Dat is dinsdag gebleken uit een stand van zaken van de Vlaamse gezondheidsdoelstellingen die Vlaams minister van Welzijn, Volksgezondheid en Gezin Jo Vandeurzen (CD&V) voorstelde.
Desensibiliseren: weldra met pilletjes in plaats van spuiten

Een verstopte of lopende neus, niezen, tranende ogen… hooikoortslijders zien het pollenseizoen elk jaar met lede ogen tegemoet. Desensibilisering of allergeenspecifieke immunotherapie kan de meesten onder hen nochtans van hun problemen afhelpen. En binnenkort maakt de vrij omslachtige en niet geheel risicoloze immunotherapie met injecties mogelijk plaats voor een behandeling met pilletjes!
